【林泊志／宜蘭報導】宜蘭縣頭城鎮公所「讀字節」系列活動，今天在北門福德祠舉行祈願活動，向土地公求好姻緣，一早不少男女就到廟前拿著百合花，寫好祈願卡，向土地公祈願，也有家長帶子女到福德祠祈願，盼勤學、平安。
 
頭城老街的北門福德祠建於清同治二年（西元1863年），距今已有150年歷史，於日治大正五年（西元1916）修建，是縣定古蹟。廟內供奉福德正神，適當地居民信仰中心，而每年也有不少外地遊客前來參觀祈福。
 
頭城鎮公所秘書賴清柱表示，頭城文風鼎盛，詩詞、書法在台灣文壇相當有名，去年開始辦理讀字節活動，讓學童接受基礎文化、更多人前來老街瞭解歷史古蹟。從清朝、日治、光復後及現代的建築結構，一條街裡全都看的到；金鐘獎獲提名的《含笑食堂》，也是在老街上取景拍攝。
 
賴清柱說，北門福德祠原本設計是保護頭城的財，但廟內供奉神祉多，也管姻緣，民眾到廟內求姻緣，福德正神會暗助，今年也特別舉辦「百和祈福」活動，讓尋求姻緣的男女能早日覓得良緣。
 
「希望早日找到老公，把自己嫁出去！」祈願女子李玫表示，求好姻緣，因今年2013年、明年2014年，希望能找到相伴「一生一世」的好郎君。
 
「生日有車車！」小朋友簡彥鈞向土地公祈願，盼生日時能爸媽能送他一台玩具車，讓人莞爾。學童林彥靖寫著祈福卡，盼學業能夠進步，家人都健康，林媽媽諶慧丹說，福德正神很靈驗，每年都會帶家人來祈福，盼「萬事圓滿，家庭就好」。

【何哲欣／台北報導】1985公民行動聯盟上午在立法院外發起公民覺醒運動，下午轉往自由廣場靜坐。下午2點過後，白衫軍又開始聚集，約有上萬群眾把中正紀念堂前的階梯坐滿，現場還拉起長度近百公尺的布條，上面寫「天下為公」、「公民護憲還權於民」、「黑箱服貿重啟談判」。

中國信託投信指出，美國政府關門，雖然讓市場日益憂心，但以過去經驗來看，通常不會對金融市場產生重大影響，且期間不會太長。

【黃楷棟／新北報導】國慶日前1天晚間10時許，在板橋區國慶路發生1起婦人燒炭自殺案件，1名剛返家的兒子發現母親在房間內燒炭自殺，立即打電話報警送醫，該名婦人到院前沒有生命跡象，但急救後已恢復心跳但仍在加護病房觀察中，婦人的先生昨晚接到消息也立即從高雄趕回板橋照顧妻子，李婦自殺的原因將待她清醒後再做進一步的了解。

【簡嘉宏╱綜合外電報導】美國女子梅森（Martha Mason）在11歲時罹患了「脊髓灰質炎」，從此必須躺在約2公尺長的人工呼吸器（俗稱鐵肺）中，只能露出頭部。
 
但梅森並不因老天對她開了玩笑而自暴自棄，她不但完成高中學業，還可以主辦趴踢。梅森的哥哥也罹患同樣的病症，在梅森11歲時過世。梅森在紀錄片中表示，「我常想當我爸媽知道我得了和我哥一樣病症時，他們有多難受」。梅森在2009年過世，享年72歲。
 
按：鐵肺是一種協助喪失自行呼吸能力的病人進行呼吸的醫療設備，使用者大多為罹患脊髓灰質炎和重症肌無力等病的病患，這些病症讓患者負責呼吸的肌肉麻痹，因此需要藉助外力進行呼吸。
