前日職阪神虎隊捕手城島健司去年球季宣布引退，雖然自己聲明將會先專心休養，不過22日軟銀鷹隊與他接觸，希望找回這位過去創造球隊榮景的老將復歸。
城島健司是日本職棒公認名捕，在他帶領下，軟銀鷹前身大榮鷹隊在1999年與2003年都拿下「日本一」。
而他也在2005年球季結束後挑戰大聯盟，成為首位上大聯盟的日籍捕手。
2009年他離開了西雅圖水手隊，並在隔年返日加入阪神虎隊，目前退休後，37歲的他過著相當平靜的生活。
軟銀鷹希望他可以回來球團幫忙，軟銀海外與中長期戰略部長小林至表示，「近期內將跟城島會談」。
小林說：「我們很重視OB球員跟球隊的緣份，這是我們一直以來的姿態。」 (接下一頁)
