另闢蹊徑 用免疫細胞抗癌有進展

在攻克癌症戰鬥中另闢蹊徑的醫生，已向「利用病人自身免疫系統抗癌」的長遠目標，邁進重要的一步。「科學」期刊8日刊出論文，敘述國家癌症研究所 (National Cancer Institute)研究員如何用這種療法，讓一名罹患致命癌症婦女的腫瘤縮小，延長壽命。

病人為43歲婦女梅琳達‧巴契尼 (Melinda Bachini)，罹患接近末期的一種致命癌症，癌細胞已從膽管擴散到肝、肺，化療都無法阻止。

研究人員把她的癌細胞基因組排序，並從她的免疫系統找出攻擊惡性細胞中特定突變的細胞。然後，研究人員在實驗室中培養這些免疫細胞，再把數十億個此種細胞注入她的血液。

論文資深撰稿人、國家癌症研究所手術部門主管羅森柏格 (Steven A. Rosenberg)醫生寫道，腫瘤「開始消失」。
