美委員會要歐巴馬對北京表達民主關切

美國9日表態支持香港民主運動，以罕見的高分貝批評北京：美國政府負責觀察中國人權與法治進展的「國會-行政部門中國委員會」 (CECC)，9日發表對美國總統與國會的年度報告 (通常在秋季發表)，促請歐巴馬對北京表達民主關切，並要求美國加強監控香港的民主進度。報告批評中國的人權紀錄，明指習近平「遵行其歷屆前任的威權主義模式」。CECC主席參議員布朗說，「中國形同排除2017年公平選舉香港行政長官之後，香港的民主發展遭到重挫」。布朗說，歐巴馬下月在北京會晤習近平時，應該直接拿「香港議題」敦促習近平。報告並建議美國高層官員訪問香港，以便明白表示華府正在密切觀察香港事態。
