Chicony Electronics reported revenues of NT$80.11 billion (US$2.56 billion) for 2014 with gross profits reaching NT$12.55 billion, operating profits NT$4.68 billion, net profits NT$4.08 billion and EPS NT$6.22. The company will distribute dividends totaling NT$4.70 for 2014 with NT$0.05 in stock and NT$4.65 in cash.
Chicony noted that its strong performance was mainly due to business opportunities from the Internet of things (IoT) industry. In the fourth quarter of 2014, the company's IoT-related product shipments enjoyed surging growth sequentially and contributed over 30% of the company's revenues.
Wearable products had the strongest growth, followed by cloud computing and LED products. In 2014, IoT-related products contributed about 20% of overall revenues.
Since IoT applications are expected to stay hot in 2015, Chicony's performance is expected to continue growing in the year.
