22歲的哥倫比亞前鋒James Rodríguez，對烏拉圭一戰包辦2顆進球，也讓他總進球數來到5顆，暫居世界盃進球王。

Rodríguezg身價4500萬歐元，目前效力法甲摩納哥，因為父母親是電影名角007情報員詹姆斯龐德的粉絲，所以取名James。

對烏拉圭精彩表現，也吸引NBA球星LeBron James注意，他在Twitter上寫下：「我認為我找到世界盃最喜歡的球員了，很顯然，他的名字幫了很大的忙。」並在後頭加註〝有偏見〞。

Rodríguez小組賽3場都有進球，他是世界盃史上繼1998年義大利的Christian Vieri之後，第二位首度參加世界盃就前4戰都進球的球員。

他也是繼2002年日韓世界盃，巴西的Rivaldo與Ronaldo之後，單屆世界盃在4場比賽都有進球的球員。

目前進球榜上，Rodríguezg5球居首，德國Thomas Mueller、阿根廷Lionel Messi以及巴西的Neymar以4球並列第二。
